We compound infusion solutions containing cytostatica to treat cancers and supply concomitant medication.

Cytostatica and Concomitant Medication in the Treatment of Cancer

Oncology deals with the etiology, prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of cancers. They occur when genetic mutations in the course of cell division within the body result in uncontrolled cell growth. These genetic mutations can be caused by various factors such as genetic predisposition or environmental factors such as carcinogenic substances, ultraviolet radiation, or chemicals. Infections, an unhealthy lifestyle, and the increasing risk of mutations as one grows older can also heighten the risk of cancer. There are many different types of cancer, of which some are malignant and others benign.

In addition to the surgical removal of tumors and radiation therapy, chemotherapy plays a key role in oncology. The main aim of these therapies is to destroy the malignant cells and inhibit the proliferation of cancerous cells. This entails the administration of chemotherapeutic agents, often in the form of cytostatic parenteral infusion solutions. Tumors that are dependent on hormones are treated with hormone therapy. Immunotherapy, which helps the patient’s immune system to fight the cancer cells, is also used in oncology.

Medios in the Field of Oncological Therapies

Compounding patient-specific oncological therapies is one of our main areas of activity. In accordance with strict GMP standards we compound the infusions as prescribed by physicians and guarantee their maximum reliability and quality. Patients with cancer increasingly also receive oral cystostatica, in the case of kidney or breast cancer, for instance. In addition to cytostatic infusions, Medios also compounds antibody solutions and concomitant medication for cancer treatments.

Please note: all the information provided here is only intended to provide a general overview of the therapeutic areas and some selected symptoms for which our patient-specific therapies are used.
