Ready-to-use medicinal products and patient-specific therapies such as infusion solutions for multiple sclerosis and other diseases.
Neurology is a multi-faceted area of medicine and deals with disorders and diseases of the nervous system. The central nervous system (CNS) comprises the brain and the spinal cord. The peripheral nervous system (PNS) consists of all the nerves in the body. Part of the PNS is the autonomic nervous system, which controls unconscious bodily functions, like breathing.
If a part of the nervous system is damaged by a genetic defect, accident, or disease, this can cause motor disorders, pain, sensory and perceptual disorders, memory loss, or dizziness, for example. The spectrum of neurological disorders is very broad. The main ones are Alzheimer’s, epilepsy, stroke, dementia, Parkinson’s, brain tumor, meningitis, intracranial hemorrhage, trigeminal neuralgia, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), or multiple sclerosis (MS). Sleep disorders and migraine are also part of the neurological therapeutic area.
The majority of neurological diseases occur with greater frequency later in life. Demographic changes mean that the number of people with these diseases continues to rise. Therefore developing therapies to treat neurological diseases is a high priority in medicine.
The complex, multi-faceted symptoms of neurological diseases also represent significant challenges for the pharmacist concerned. Medios is a competent partner for the optimized supply of medicinal products and offers a wide range of services and advice for patients, physicians, and pharmacies.
In this therapy area we primarily compound monoclonal antibody therapies. Monoclonal antibodies are genetically produced, immunologically active proteins that are applied by infusion. In addition, we supply pharmacies with specialized ready-to-use medicinal products, e.g. in the form of an injector pen that can be used for easy self-injection of liquid medication.
